Second Canvas Zvolen app is a new way to explore the permanent exposition of European art at the Zvolen Castle. See the art masterpieces from Italy, Netherlands and Central Europe in super high-resolution and discover their stories using any device: smartphone, tablet or computer.

Slovak National Gallery teamed up with The Mad Pixel Factory to open the highlights of our Old European Art collection to the new audiences. The app is useful for exposition visitors to use as a handy guide, for students as a learning tool and also for art lovers online who can find more about the masterpieces and their origins. The selected artworks include pieces from the Italian collection of Ján Pálffy, Dutch art from the 16th and 17th centuries and an Eastern Christian icon from the region of Bardejov. There are examples of mythological, biblical and genre scenes alike. All of the artworks can be seen on display in the medieval castle Zvolen, currently the most extensive gallery space in Slovakia.

The app lets you navigate each artwork revealing stories about the characters, the technique used by the artist or its hidden secrets, revelaed during restoration or through an extensive curatorial research.
