The man cursed in concrete has already resigned to any hope. He has a piece of metal nailed almost mockingly to his forehead, as if he has become a warning and a negative role model. Rusty tears stream down his face and metallic tentacles reach out from below. There is no trace of nature and human warmth left here.

In his sculptural cycle Monologues, Juraj Meliš created his own posthumous mask, because in the marasmus of declining totalitarianism he felt ""dead"" to society. The cycle pessimistically closed one human epoch, but in the context of the current threat of inevitable climatic catastrophes, it once again takes on a new topical significance.
